He finished 4th in Cat in the General Classification and his Podium on Friday qualified him for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championship Finals for the TT so he is now participating in the Road Race and TT Finals in September 2022. On Day one of the race, a 22K Time Trial, Fenton took another Podium with 3rd in Cat out of a strong group. Days two and three of the event took place in the mountains.
The Cyprus Gran Fondo is a 3-day Road "Cycling for All" event, which, since 2017, has featured among the biggest cycling events of the UCI as part of the Gran Fondo World Series for cyclists ranging from pros to beginners. The event takes place during the first weekend of April for the eighth consecutive year and provides the perfect opportunity for recreational riders to qualify for the World Gran Fondo Championships also held every year. All participants of Cyprus Gran Fondo will have the opportunity to earn their qualification in the Gran Fondo World Championship in Trento.
Starting every day next to the Mediterranean coast, cyclists climb some of the nicest mountains of the island and pass through traditional and rustic villages, enjoying the Cyprus weather and nature, before returning back to some of the best hotels in Paphos to enjoy off-the-bike time! The idea is to bring passionate cyclists together, professional and amateurs riding shoulder to shoulder, to enjoy the amazing Cyprus nature and have fun in a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere.
Fenton is delighted to have qualified and look forward to having other team members from #TeamFCG join him for next year’s event.
Well done to everyone that took part in what was a fab few days of racing in Cyprus.
