A very well done to Team FCG at the week end of Saturday 4th September 2021 at the Homowo Cycling Challenge Race in Teshie, Accra, Ghana where 8 of our cyclists took part. This was a 30 lap criterium race of 94k. A very well done to Tina who is back to winning ways with a tremendous performance taking 1st overall lady!
Fantastic power by Frank with a very strong sprint finish in the bunch to take 2nd overall in the men's race. And Francis took the 10th overall doing very well staying with the bunch until the finish.
Well done to the whole team for a strong performance and bad luck to Maxwell who got a mechanical in the warm up and had to change bikes.
The 2021 Teshie Homowo Cycling Challenge challenge is a 90 kilometre criterium race of about 40 laps which will be contested by 12 clubs. The race forms part of activities to celebrate the Teshie Homowo festival.
The organiser of the Challenge, Nathaniel Sowah Agoe, said they were excited to have Bertino, an Autistic challenger who has over the year's used his exploits on the track to create awareness about Autism in Ghana. He said Saturday's race will serve as another platform to educate Ghanaians and also help attract more young people to cycling.
"We need to nurture young cyclists to take over from the old ones and having Phil on board would be a step in the right direction," he stated.
"We have organised this for the past 17 years and it has been without any accident. I urge corporate Ghana to come on board to support the challenge".
Team FCG was delighted to have taken part in this worthwhile challenge and now goes with a lot of confidence to the next race on 21st September 2021 at the Osagyefo Criterium Race in Accra.
